Street no 1, Hornsgatan

Inspired by so many other bloggers, I decided to start a 5streets-blog from my hometown, Stockholm, Sweden. That's where I grew up, that's where my heart is. I'm gonna write about my 5 favorite streets in the capital of Sweden, with love.

Starting: Hornsgatan. My beloved Hornsgatan. This is kind of where I grew up, or more like the street next door. It stretches from Hornstull in the west, to Slussen in the east, I guess that would make it about 1 or 2 miles. Maybe three. To be honest, I don't know... But still... What I like about Hornsgatan is all the life, the traffic (ok, not the best part...), the restaurants, the pubs and bars, the shops that are the kind of shops you don't find everywhere, as well as those you do, cozy coffeeshops, nice people, parks, beautiful churches and houses. Definitely worth a visit, if you ever come to Stockholm.

But I must say though, that the very best parts of Hornsgatan is the beginning and the end, where you meet the water that surrounds Stockholm. What would I do without the water? Mmmm...

Unfortunately though, I go back to Stockholm every now and then and I find Hornsgatan not being the same as when I was a kid... The little video store on the corner of Hornsgatan and Lignagatan - gone, Sara's restaurant - gone, the kiosk where dad used to buy the evening paper - gone... It breaks my heart, to realize that it's not always gonna be the same as it once was. Not because it was so great, but because it was my childhood...

Ok, first street finished. There's more to come.

Love.
